The 2016 Rio Olympics has proven to be full of not just drama but as a festival of love. There have been public proposals and declarations of love in the Olympics.
See the list below:
1. Tom Bosworth
Thomas Stewart “Tom” Bosworth is a British race
walker who holds three British Records. He is currently ranked 1st
overall in the UK for 20 km. At this year’s Rio Olympics 2016, he came
6th and then went down on one knee to propose to his long-time lover,
Harry Dineley at Copacabana Beach. An excited Tom Bosworth showed his
excitement on his twitter page. You can see it here
2. Marjorie Enya
Marjorie Enya’s proposal was actually the first in
the competition. A manager at Deodoro Stadium, she asked Isadora
Cerullo, a Brazilian women’s rugby sevens player to marry her after the
Brazilian squad had been knocked out of the competition. The whole
stadium roared with applause at the proposal.
3. Qin Kai
The Chinese diver Qin Kai was up next. Just after He Zi his female teammate was awarded her silver medal in the 3m springboard event, he asked her to marry him. Kai surprised He by getting down on bended knee as she stepped off the medal podium and spoke at length before presenting her with a ring. The pair have been together since 2010. He Zi said yes.
4. Charlotte Dujardin
Britain’s Charlotte Dujardin was up next. As soon as she finished her high-scoring freestyle dressage test and earned her second Olympic gold. She was surprised as cameras zoomed in on her long-time partner in the stands holding up a sign saying: “Will you marry me now?” “I don’t think he believed it was going to happen so I think he has made it so public that now I am certainly going to do it,” she said. She said the fourth yes of the Olympic so far.
5. Will Claye
Claye became the fifth Olympian to propose during the games. 27-year-old Harrison, a hurdler and former Olympian, was proposed to with a huge diamond ring. Not even Claye’s family had been informed of his intentions, with only a group of close friends knowing what to expect.
